Why New Zealand from the Gulf

Why Arab Students Choose New Zealand

Safe & Welcoming Country

New Zealand ranks top 3 globally for safety (Global Peace Index). Auckland is consistently rated among the world's most liveable cities with a welcoming attitude toward international students.

Globally Recognised by GCC Employers

NZ qualifications on the NZQF are assessed and recognised by qualification bodies in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and across the Gulf region for employment and professional licensing purposes.

Halal, Mosques & Arab Community

Auckland has established mosques within minutes of campus, extensive halal food in the CBD, an Arab and Muslim student community, and Eid and Ramadan observance respected across Auckland institutions.

Work While You Study

Student visa holders can work 20 hours per week during semester, helping GCC students offset living costs in Auckland which is more affordable than London, Sydney, or New York.

Post-Study Work Visa

Eligible graduates may apply for a 1–3 year Post-Study Work Visa, allowing GCC graduates to gain international work experience before returning home or pursuing NZ residency.

English-Speaking Pacific Nation

New Zealand provides an English-immersion environment that rapidly accelerates language acquisition — crucial for Gulf professionals who need strong English for international career advancement.

GCC Scholarship FAQ

Which countries are eligible for the GCC scholarship? +
Students holding citizenship or permanent residence in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, and Morocco are eligible for the GCC and Arab World Regional Award. Students from other Arab-speaking countries should contact admissions to discuss eligibility.
How do I apply for the GCC scholarship? +
No separate application is required. When you submit your programme application and indicate your country of origin, the admissions team automatically assesses your scholarship eligibility. Your Letter of Offer will clearly state any award applied to your fees.
Is the scholarship renewable each year? +
Yes. The GCC Regional Award is renewable for the full duration of your programme, subject to maintaining a satisfactory academic record. The specific GPA requirement will be stated in your scholarship terms.
Will my ARA qualification be recognised by my employer in the Gulf? +
NZQF-listed qualifications are formally assessed by qualification bodies in GCC countries. Many government and private employers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kuwait accept NZ degrees. The ARA admissions team can provide documentation to support qualification recognition in your specific country.
